This double lesson introduces learners to the different organisational structures. Real life examples, a group task to assemble an organisational structure to consolidate key terms such as span of control, chain of command. We then look at pros of cons of the different types of structures including centralisation and decentralisation. We look at how communication is impacted through the different types of structures.
Some 3 and 6 mark questions with model answers to build exam skills.

This lesson introduces learners to what a stakeholder is, we discuss examples of stakeholders, students consider the stakehodlers of their school, we then go on to look at the different interests of the stakeholders. Some consolidation activties such as matching stakeholders to definitions or a more challenging version included.
Students consider the most important and least important interest for each stakeholder before going on to complete a 6 mark analyse question on Apple. A model answer is given with context highlighted in red - to help students build this important skill. Finally we look at conflicting interests of stakeholders with examples.

This set of resources includes 1x ppt and 4 word files and introduces learners to the different types of profit. We start by looking at a step by step animated example of a pizza shop’s income statement. This is followed by an engaging consolidation activity of completing an income statement for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, answers are provided on the board for students to self assess.
We then look at some 4 mark exam style calculation questions, answers provided. We then go on to looking at gross and net profit margins and plenty of calculation practice here with answers popping in on the slide for students to self assess. Students also consider the difference between cash and profit (a very common misconception where students lose marks in their essays). The second part to economic influences introduces learners to the stages in the business cycle and how each affects businesses and consumers, we also look at different types of tax and their implcications. This lesson introduces learners to staffing can be approached, we start by considering a popular discussion in this area - on zero hour contracts before considering the difference between viewing staff as an asset vs staff as a cost. We then go on to look at flexible working with its pros and cons before reading a concise case study where flexible working could be vital - structure guidance and a concise model answer is provided to help students with peer assessments and improvements. Learners are introduced to the different types of profit. We start by looking at a step by step animated example of a pizza shop’s income statement. This is followed by an engaging consolidation activity of completing an income statement for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, answers are provided on the board for students to self assess. More consolidation with a question for Arjee Bhargees income statement with answers.
In the second powerpoint, we start by looking what a balance sheet is and what it is made up of including the key terms. Once this is consolidated, we break down a balance sheet into 3 stages to simplify understanding this. Plenty of practice for students to make their own balance sheets as well as with a template first - answers for all questions provided on the powerpoint.
In the third powerpoint, we’re focusing on cash flow forecasts and how to construct a cash flow forecast from scratch step by step (although this isn’t required it helps understand the topic well). Students then go on to consolidate this by creating a cash flow forecast for Ian Beale’s fish and chip shop, some further calculation practice followed.
This is followed by a 12 mark question on cash flow forecasting based on Ian Beale’s forecast. Structure guidance and concise model answer for students to peer assess with. Two links to kahoot quizzes on the topic and a box plenary to finish with.

Learners are introduced to the world of stakeholders - their interests, conflicts, how to manage stakeholders and influences on relationships.
This first double lesson introduces learners to the various stakeholders, we start by looking at the different types of stakeholders involved in a business, we then look at their key interests, a choice of tasks on how to consolidate this is offered (two worksheets - matching for lowers and non-matching for more challenge) followed by evaluating the most important interest for each stakeholders. Once students know the interests well, we can start to look at how stakeholders might conflict with each other - a few examples given here.
We read a case study on Unilever, students prepare presentations on whether they should focus on shareholders or stakeholders, this is in the form of an essay question so students could answer it after the presentation as a 25 marker, or for homework. Structure guidance and concise points that would be the main focus of the answer is provided. A box plenary to finish
The second double lesson builds on the previous lesson on stakeholders, now the focus is on resolving conflicts between stakeholders, we look at the influence of different types of stakeholders, some activities to engage students to consolidate this. A 12 mark quetsion on meeting stakeholders needs, structure guidance and a concise model answer is provided , plus marking grids for self and peer assessment. This double lesson introduces learners to the reality of business - that strategies fail at times. We start by looking at the decision making process of developing a strategy and identify reasons where failure can be rooted from in this process. We then look at the difference between a planned and emergent strategy as well as strategic drift. A video of real life business examples that drifted away from the environment such as Nokia and Kodak. We look at the divorce between ownership and control and the impact this can have on a businesses strategy. We look at the subjective nature of ‘success’ when evaluating the performance of a strategy.
